Project Description
The Tryfan prospect is located in license P1166, consisting of Blocks 3/17 and 3/18, in the UK sector of the North Sea. Apache operates the license with a 33 percent stake.

Tryfan is an Eocene stratigraphic channel-sand play which benefits from a fluid characterized, seismic amplitude response with gross prospective resources estimated by Valiant to be 24 MMboe.

The well encountered both Frigg and Dornoch sandstones on prognosis with a small gas column present at the top of the Frigg formation interpreted to be sub-commercial. The well was plugged and abandoned.

Apache Reports Tryfan is Sub-Commercial
Type: Drilling Operations

Jun. 2012 - Valiant Petroleum has completed drilling at the Tryfan prospect in UK Block 3/17. The well encountered both Frigg and Dornoch sandstones on prognosis with a small gas column present at the top of the Frigg formation interpreted to be sub-commercial. The well will now be plugged and abandoned.

Apache Spuds Tryfan Well
Type: Drilling Operations

Jun. 2012 - Apache has commenced exploratory drilling at the Tryfan prospect located in UK Block 3/17. The operator reported that Tryfan is an Eocene channelized sand play in the northern North Sea which benefits from a strong seismic amplitude response. The well is estimated to take around 25 days to complete.

Apache Lines Up Rig to Drill Tryfan Prospect
Type: Status Update

Mar. 2012 - Apache has signed a letter of intent for the Borgsten Dolphin (mid-water semisub) to drill the Tryfan prospect. Tryfan is an Eocene channelized sand play in the UK Northern North Sea which benefits from a strong seismic amplitude response. Tryfan has gross prospective resources estimated internally by Valiant to be 24 MMboe.

Apache Plans to Spud Tryfan Prospect by Year-End
Type: Operator Update

Sep. 2011 - Apache is deciding on which semisub to use to drill its Tryan prospect in Block 3/17, in the UK sector of the North Sea. A decision should be made soon. The Tryfan prospect is an Eocene stratigraphic channel-sand play that is near existing infrastructure. Exploratory drilling should begin by year-end.
