Job Overview

The position to be filled is for a Subsea Valve Package Engineer that will work with valve vendor(s) on behalf of client during procurement, manufacture and testing phases.  This position will initially be assigned to deliver subsea pipeline and manifold valves as a part of the team delivering subsea equipment for one of our global projects.  As workload allows, this position may be asked to support other project teams or assist with other aspects of equipment delivery that align with candidate's experience.

Roles & Responsibilities

The position is for a valve package engineer, preferably degree qualified with deep water development experience.

Candidate will be responsible for the delivery all pipeline and manifold valves, and will liaise with valve suppliers on behalf of client during design, qualification, procurement, manufacture and testing phases.

The candidate will be working within a subsea hardware team on a shallow water project from FEED through to delivery of final product.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Verifying compliance to Company's specifications and technical documentation.
  • Co-ordinate and support reliability assurance activities in line with Company subsea reliability requirements.
  • Preparing initial equipment selection strategies in line with client's documentation and preferences.
  • Preparation of technical notes, reports and decision papers in conjunction with client representative engineers to define hardware requirements and scope.
  • Preparation of preliminary equipment functional specifications.
  • Development of testing strategies (FAT/EFAT) and installation requirements.
  • Interface with client's own equipment, systems and pipeline engineering teams.TRAP's
  • Co-ordination of verification processes for manufacture and qualification testing techniques to be employed.
  • Provide support to the preparation of the inspection and testing documentation.


Experience Required

  • 5-10 years minimum post-graduation experience of which some must involve valve design and/or manufacturing experience for subsea applications
  • The candidate must have significant experience in the subsea industry with a substantial portion of the time involved in the design, fabrication, and testing of subsea valves, SSIV's and support tooling.
  • The candidate must have good knowledge of the principles of design, qualification and testing functions for valves; ball, gate and check valve types.
  • The candidate must be competent in the use and application of codes and standards for subsea valve design.
  • The candidate should have working knowledge and experience with reliability activities such as design reviews, FMECAs, TRAPs, TRC and TRL assessments, etc.


Experience Preferred

  • Experience presenting design results.
  • Knowledge of materials, welding, and coatings desirable.
  • Knowledge of sealing technologies and corrosion issues preferred.
  • Knowledge of construction, installation and intervention (ROV) activities preferred.
  • Offshore and deep water experience with knowledge of ROV interfaces and tooling desirable.
