The Wakid field is situated in Block 2G-2J about 62 miles (100 kilometers) northwest of Kota Kinabalu. Petronas wholly owns and operates the block.
The well reached a total vertical depth of 10,925 feet (3,330 meters), confirming the presence of significant oil and some gas-bearing reservoirs. Three production tests were conducted in three different reservoirs which flowed oil at a combined maximum rate of 8,200 bopd.
Current preliminary estimation of the hydrocarbon-in-place from this discovery is 227 MMboe, with expected upside potential.
The operator plans to appraise the find.

Nov. 2011 - Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd has made an oil discovery in the Wakid-1 well in Block 2G-2J offshore Sabah, located about 62 miles (100 kilometers) northwest of Kota Kinabalu. Completion of the well, spudded on May 30, 2011, occurred July 4, 2011. Wakid-1 well reached a total vertical depth of 10,925 feet (3,330 meters), confirming the presence of significant oil and some gas-bearing reservoirs. The operator conducted three production tests in three different reservoirs, which flowed oil at a combined rate of 8,200 bopd. The preliminary estimate of the hydrocarbon-in-place from this discovery is 227 MMboe, with expected upside potential. Carigali plans to appraise this find in the near future. This is the second well drilled in Block 2G-2J.
