The Eik prospect is located in Production License 396 in the Barents Sea. Noreco operates the license with a 50 percent interest; while Front holds 30 percent; and Petoro holds 20 percent.
Noreco has completed the drilling of wildcat well 7228/1-1 on the Eik prospect. The well was drilled to a vertical depth of 5,486 feet (1,672 meters) in a water depth of 1,155 feet (352 meters) and terminated in the Kobbe formation in Middle Triassic.
The well’s primary exploration target was to prove petroleum in Jurassic and Triassic reservoir rocks (the Realgrunnen subgroup). Noreco Spuds Eik Prospect

Mar. 2012 - Noreco has commenced drilling at exploration well 7228/1-4 on the Eik prospect in the Barents Sea. The well is being drilled by the Transocean Barents (UDW semisub). The partners in the license PL396 are Noreco (operator, 50 percent), Front Exploration (30 percent) and Petoro (20 percent).
