In 2008, the operator decided to move forward with development plans for the previously developed portion of the Cheviot field. It is estimated Cheviot holds proven and probable reserves of about 250 Bcf of gas equivalent.
Field Development
Cheviot will be redeveloped by 16 wells, 13 oil producers, two water injectors and one gas producer) connecting to the Octabuoy platform. The Octabuoy Dry Tree semisub production platform can accommodate both production facilities and a complete drilling/work-over rig that provides oil storage in the columns. The gas will be exported via the Frigg pipeline system to St. Fergus.
Production capacity will be 25,000 bopd and 50 MMcf/d of gas. Production from the development is slated for 2014.

GE to Supply Cheviot Subsea Equipment
Type: Contract Award
May. 2012 - ATP has contracted GE Oil & Gas to supply subsea production equipment, ancillary systems and related services for the Cheviot field in the North Sea. The supplied equipment, including wellheads, subsea Xmas trees and a subsea control system will be used in conjunction with ATP's Octabuoy FPS that is currently being constructed. As part of the contract, GE will also provide system engineering and design, procurement and on-site testing services. Product shipments will begin in February 2013 with installation scheduled for later that year. Commercial operations are set to begin in 2014.

Subsea 7 to Furnish Umbilicals, Flowlines for Cheviot Development
Type: Subsea Equipment
Apr. 2012 - ATP Oil & Gas awarded Subsea 7 a SURF contract for the Cheviot field in the UK sector of the North Sea. The Cheviot field development will use a moored floating process facility which will import oil and gas from four satellite drill centers allowing oil to be exported via shuttle tankers and gas to be exported to a third party host facility. The contract scope includes the transportation and installation of flexible flowlines and risers, control umbilicals, a 2.6-mile-long (4.2-kilometer-long) 14-inch flexible oil export pipeline and a 30 mile-long (48 kilometer-long) 10-inch rigid gas pipeline, together with the fabrication and installation of associated subsea structures. The contract scope also includes post installation, trenching of the subsea lines, tie-in of the lines to the Octabuoy and drilling centers, testing and pre-commissioning activities for the entire field facilities. Offshore operations are slated to begin in 2014.

Technip to Supply Umbilicals for Cheviot Development
Type: Contract Award
Mar. 2012 - Technip's wholly-owned subsidiary Duco received a contract by Bluewater Industries for the Cheviot field development. The contract covers engineering, project management and fabrication of four static steel tube umbilicals, four dynamic thermoplastic umbilicals, and a thermoplastic subsea intervention valve umbilical. The total length is 7.5 miles (12 kilometers). The umbilicals will control four drill centers from a floating semisubmersible production facility. The project is scheduled for delivery in 2014.

Cheviot Field Development Continues
Type: Status Update
Aug. 2011 - ATP O&G announced development is continuing on the Cheviot field in the UK sector of the North Sea. The company will use Moss Maritime's Octobuoy concept, a semi-submersible platform with drilling and storage facilities for production use on the field. During the second quarter 2011, work on the semisub continued in the shipyard. Hull construction is on schedule and completion is expected early 2012. Platform topsides are under construction in China (the utility module) and the US (the processing module). Upon completion of the processing module, it will be shipped to China for mating with the utility module. The hull and topsides are expected to then sail to Norway for final commissioning. Production capacity will be 25,000 b/d of oil and 50 MMcf/d of gas. Start-up is scheduled for 2014.
