Oct. 2011 - Statoil has made a discovery in the Logan-1 well in the Gulf of Mexico. The well was drilled by the Discoverer Americas drillship in the Walker Ridge 969 block. Logan-1 discovered hydrocarbons, and evaluations are continuing to evaluate volumes and commerciality. The prospect is situated in a water depth of 8,704 feet (2,653 meters) in the Gulf of Mexico on Walker Ridge Blocks 925 and 969. Statoil serves as the operator and holds a 35 percent working interest.

Apr. 2011 - The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement (BOEMRE) has approved Statoil's deepwater drilling permit for Walker Ridge block 969. The operator plans to drill a new well on the Logan prospect in 7,813 feet (2,381 meters) of water about 219 miles (352 kilometers) off the Louisiana coast, south of Houma, Louisiana. The operator plans to use the Discoverer Americas drillship to drill the well.

Nov. 2009 - Statoil has confirmed that it signed an agreement with China's CNOOC for a 10% interest in its Logan prospect in the Gulf of Mexico. The Logan prospect is located in 8,702 feet (2,653 meters) of water covering Walker Ridge Blocks 925 and 969. Statoil acquired 100% interest in the blocks from EnCana in 2005 and plans to drill up to 4 wells on the prospect.

Jun. 2009 - StatoilHydro submitted an Initial Exploration Plan to MMS for the Logan prospect. The prospect covers Walker Ridge Blocks 925 and 969 in a water depth of 7,876 feet (2,401 meters). The plan proposes to drill and temporarily abandon four wells at WR969, locations A, D and E and WR925 location C. StatoilHydro serves as the operator and holds a 50% interest; Petrobras holds the remaining 50%.

Aug. 2008 - MMS records confirm that Petrobras America has acquired a 50% title interest in Walker Ridge Block 925. Statoil Gulf of Mexico remains the operator and now holds a 50% interest.
