Crown-1 Proves Significant Gas Find
Type: New Discovery
Nov. 2012 - Results from the Santos-operated Crown-1 exploration well off Western Australia indicate a significant net gas column of 200 feet in the Montara, Plover and Malita reservoirs. Gas condensate samples were recovered to surface and data from multiple pressure samples suggest a high flow rate could be achieved. The company plans to continue drilling the well to a proposed total depth of 17,060 feet. Santos' head of exploration expressed the importance of the discovery due, not only to the size, but also the proximity to existing and proposed LNG projects in the Browse Basin. The Transocean Jack Bates (deep-water semisub) will continue drilling to the proposed depth of 17,060 feet.
