Project Description
The Atlas prospect is located in the Titan PSC offshore to the North of the East Java Province, covering an area of 1.7 million acres (6,903 square kilometers) in a water depth of 197 feet (60 meters). AWE operates the concession with a 40% stake while Baruna Oil and Gas holds 25%; Mitra holds 25%; and PT Sillo Maritime Perdana holds the remaining equity.

AWE will plug and abandon its Atlas-1 well due to a high percentage of carbon dioxide. AWE was targeting a carbonate reservoir sequence that, together with the nearby Lengo gas discovery, was thought might contain up to one trillion cubic feet of recoverable gas.

AWE to P&A Atlas-1 Well
Type: Status Update

Jun. 2012 - AWE will plug and abandon its Atlas-1 well due to a high percentage of carbon dioxide. AWE was targeting a carbonate reservoir sequence that, together with the nearby Lengo gas discovery, was thought might contain up to one trillion cubic feet of recoverable gas. On June 7, 2012 AWE announced that it had drilled the well to 2,011 feet (613 meters), and that indications of both methane and carbon dioxide had been detected within the upper part of the Kujung carbonate reservoir section.

Type: Drilling Operations

Jun. 2012 - AWE Limited has commenced exploratory drilling at the Atlas-1 well. The well is an exploration well designed to test the gas potential of a carbonate reservoir sequence that, together with the nearby Lengo gas discovery, could contain up to 1 trillion cubic feet of recoverable sales gas. The well is planned to be drilled to a total measured depth of about 2,526 feet (770 meters). The water depth of the site is 230 feet (70 meters).

Type: Status Update

May. 2012 - AWE reported it is ready to start drilling the Atlas-1 well in May 2012. The prospect is targeting a large gas opportunity in East Java Basin, and if successful, will provide ongoing prospects for further exploration.

Type: Status Update

Jan. 2012 - AWE Limited said planning for drilling the Atlas-1 well in the Titan PSC is accelerating following the execution of the drilling contract in November 2011. Site surveys are completed and based on the current rig schedule, the well is expected to commence drilling in April 2012.

AWE One Step Closer to Exploring Atlas
Type: Status Update

Nov. 2011 - AWE Limited has executed a rig contract to drill the Atlas-1 well offshore Indonesia. The Atlas well is targeting a sizable gas prospect, stated AWE Limited. The well is located 22 miles (35 kilometers) northeast of the Lengo gas discovery. Lengo tested gas at rates of 12.8 MMcf/d from the discovery well in 2008. If exploratory drilling is successful on Atlas, both Lengo and Atlas could hold up to 1 Tcf of recoverable sales gas. Drilling should begin in March 2012. Atlas is located in 197 feet (60 meters) of water in the Titan PSC in the East Java Basin. The participants in the Titan PSC are AWE Limited (operator, 40 percent), Baruna Oil and Gas Ltd (25 percent), Mitra Energy (25 percent) and PT Sillo Maritime Perdana (10 percent).

Type: Production Start

Sep. 2011 - AWE is moving forward with plans to target gas at the Atlas-1 prospect in the Titan PSC offshore Indonesia. The operator has set a drilling start-date for the first half of 2012. AWE also stated that further prospects are being matured for gas exploration and appraisal with hopes to drill in 2012. The Titan PSC, located offshore to the North of the East Java Province, covers an area of 1.7 million acres (6,903 square kilometers) in a water depth of 197 feet (60 meters).
