Description

The Ardennes prospect is situated on Green Canyon Blocks 895 and 896 in 5,518 feet (1,682 meters) of water in the Gulf of Mexico. Cobalt Energy, which holds a 42% interest, operates the leases OCS-G 26345 and 31765 acquired at the Central GOM Lease Sale No. 190; ConocoPhillips holds 30%; and Total holds the remaining 28%. In January 2009, the operator submitted an IEP to MMS proposing to drill, complete and potentially test two well sites on GC Block 895 and one well on GC Block 896. The plan also proposed to place manifolds over the proposed well locations. Eight months later, a supplemental IEP, submitted to MMS, proposed to drill two additional wells on GC Block 895. The plan proposed to drill, complete and potentially test two wells, B and C, and place a subsea manifold over the proposed well locations. Exploratory drilling at Ardennes has not begun.

Cobalt Submits Supplemental Exploration Plan for Ardennes

Cobalt submitted a supplemental Exploration Plan to MMS for the addition of two well sites on Green Canyon Block 895. This supplemental plan proposes to drill, complete and potentially test two wells, location B and C. Additional operations being covered under this EP includes the setting of a subsea manifold over the proposed well locations. Cobalt operates the prospect with a 42% working interest with co-owners ConocoPhillips (30%) and Total (28%).



Cobalt Readies for Exploration Ops on its Ardennes Prospect

Cobalt International Energy has submitted an Initial Exploration Plan for the Ardennes prospect at Green Canyon block 895. The plan propsed to drill, complete and ptentially test two well sites located at GC895. Additional operations being covered under this EP include setting of a subsea manifold over the proposed well locations. Each well location is expected to take 130-days to complete.

Bright Spot - Jul 01, 2004 to Jan 2013 ConocoPhillips Acquired GC895 at the 3/17/2004 Central GOM Lease Sale #190 with a bid of 757000.00; Lease expiration 6/30/2014. Cobalt acquired a 70% working interest in the block March 2008.
