Project Description

The Falcon field is situated on Blocks 210/25 and 211/21 about 65 miles (105 kilometers) from Shetland, UK. TAQA Bratani wholly owns and operates the field.

Falcon is considered a small, marginal field that was developed and brought online in less than two years.

Well operations, installation and commissioning of the new Falcon facilities started in Q2 2011 and the field was subsequently brought on stream on July 18, 2011.

The development consisted of a single gas-lifted production well tied-back via a 2.8-mile (4.5-kilometer) flexible flowline to the Kestrel subsea system and onwards to TAQA’s Tern Alpha platform.

Workover at Causeway Nears Completion
Type: Development Activity

Feb. 2013 - Workover operations on Causeway Field well 211/23d-18 are underway in UK waters. Transocean's GSF Arctic III is expected to complete work on the water injection well in February 2013. Start-up of both water injection and the electric submersible pumps will take place in the second half of the year upon completion of topside modifications to the North Cormorant platform. Currently, the Causeway Field is producing approximately 4,500 bopd via primary depletion.

First Oil Announced at Cormorant East
Type: Production Start

Jan. 2013 - Production commenced from the Cormorant East field, according to license partner Antrim Energy. The company reported an initial production rate of 5,500 barrels per day with no water. Cormorant East was discovered in October 2012 through exploration well 211/21-N94 in UK license P201 and was brought online 85 days later. Production from the well is routed through the TAQA Bratani-operated Cormorant North Platform. The field may hold substantial upside depending on how the reservoir reacts to primary depletion from the existing well. A water injection concept along with additional production wells can be initiated in the future.

Initial Contender Results Look Promising
Type: Drilling Operations

Oct. 2012 - JV partner Antrim Energy announced positive initial results from the Contender well 211/21-N94 in the UK North Sea. Drilling took place on the TAQA Bratani-operated North Cormorant platform and reached a total depth of 16,903 feet. Preliminary results suggest a net oil pay in excess of 60 feet was encountered in the Tarbert member of the Jurassic Brent sandstones. Ongoing testing has revealed greater than expected porosity and hydrocarbon saturation. If Contender is determined to be commercial, it will be developed from North Cormorant under the name Cormorant East.

TAQA Bratani Explores Contender Prospect
Type: Drilling Operations

Aug. 2012 - TAQA Bratani has announced that exploration drilling operations are underway at Block 211/22a of the UK North Sea. The well is being drilled from the TAQA operated Cormorant North production platform which is located just west of the Contender prospect. The objective of the well is to test Jurassic Brent sandstones at a depth of 16,900 feet. TAQA agreed to cover 100% of the drilling and completion costs of the Contender well and has earned a 60% interest in the block. If it is determined that Contender should be developed, it will be tied into the Cormorant North Platform.

Taqa Bratani to Commence Drilling Program in North Sea
Type: Status Update

Mar. 2012 - Taqa Bratani is gearing up to commence an exploratory drilling program in the North Sea, which includes exploration wells on the Timone, Contender, Cladhan and Darwin prospects. The company has contracted the Transocean John Shaw (mid-water semisub) for the drilling program. Taqa also has platform-based rigs, and after working on Tern its drilling crew is to move to the North Cormorant field.

Bridge Energy, TAQA Team Up for Contender Prospect
Type: Status Update

Feb. 2012 - Bridge Energy is planning to spud the Contender prospect in March 2012. The well will target the Jurassic Brent series of sandstones at a projected drilling depth of 16,900 feet (5,151 meters), less than one mile (two kilometers) east of the Cormorant North field. Drilling will be funded by TAQA. If successful, TAQA will receive 60 percent interest in the southern area of the block and 35 percent interest in the northern part. Contender is located in UKCS License P201 on Block 211/22a.

Valiant, Antrim to Develop Fionn Field
Type: Status Update

Jan. 2012 - Antrim Energy and Valiant Petroleum have signed an agreement to proceed with early installation of subsea facilities for the development of the Fionn field in the UK sector of the North Sea. Fionn, located in Block 211/22a, was formerly called Central Causeway fault block. In December 2011, the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change assigned separate field designations to the Fionn field and the Causeway field, the latter containing the two fault blocks previously referred to as the East Causeway and Far East Causeway fault blocks. A Field Development Plan for the Causeway field was approved by DECC, with first oil expected in mid-2012. Under the terms of the Fionn Agreement, various subsea facilities will be installed during the first half of 2012 in conjunction with the installation of facilities for the Causeway field as a pre-investment for the future tie-in of Fionn to minimize development costs. Valiant will finance Antrim's share of these costs. For three months following first oil from Causeway, Antrim has the option either to either withdraw from the Fionn project, or confirm its participation by paying its 35.1 percent share of the pre-investment outlay. Operator Valiant Causeway will likely submit a development plan for Fionn to DECC during the current quarter. It is planned that Fionn production will be combined with Causeway production, transported for processing to the Cormorant North platform, and exported to the Sullom Voe terminal for sale. First oil from Fionn is anticipated in mid-2013.

Valiant Gets Thumbs Up to Develop Causeway
Type: Development Activity

Jan. 2012 - The Department of Energy and Climate Change has approved Valiant's Causeway Field Development Plan. The Borgsten Dolphin (mid-water semisub) is booked to complete the existing production and water injection wells on the field with first oil targeted for the second half of 2012. Development plans call for the drilling of a new production well and a water injection well in the East and Far East fault panels. A production well will be completed with dual electrical submersible pumps. Hydrocarbons will be sent to and processed at the Cormorant North platform operated by TAQA Bratani Limited before being exported to the Sullom Voe terminal. Causeway is located on Blocks 211/22a and 211/23d in a water depth of 350 feet (107 meters) in the UK sector of the North Sea. Valiant operates the field.

TAQA Bratani Pumps Oil from First North Sea Well
Type: Production Start

Oct. 2009 - TAQA Bratani, the UK subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi National Energy Company PJSC, achieved oil production from its first North Sea well on October 27, 2009. Drilled from the North Cormorant platform, this well is a sidetrack from the existing CN30 well in the Brent reservoir of the Cormorant field. Under 530 feet (162 meters) of water, the well is expected to produce around 10,000 boepd, and further platform in-fill drilling and mobile drilling for subsea development wells are planned for late-2009 and 2010.
