Subsea Controls Engineer

Luanda, Angola

8/2 Rotation

Roles and responsibilities include:

  • Dealing with instrumentation, subsea pods, etc.
  • Instrumentation and Automation: review and update the project I/A documentation, coordinating interfaces among the SPS, Umbilical, and FPDO packages. Maintain and update the project ESD and Control philosophies and schemes.
  • Performs technical duties related to the engineering design or EPC project scope of subsea control system, umbilicals, and power cables.
  • Duties include field architecture development, calculations/specifications/selection of subsea control system/umbilicals/power cables, interfacing with other engineers (subsea trees and manifolds, topsides design, etc), technical evaluations of supplier/vendor bids on these components, supervising work by suppliers/vendors/subcontracts, and supervising test programs (FAT/EFAT/SIT).
  • Initiates and maintains extensive contacts with key engineers and officials of other organizations and companies (clients, partners, suppliers, and vendors), anticipates and solves unprecedented engineering problems, fully understands project objectives and requirements, and participates in developing standards and guides for diverse engineering activities.
  • As needed by projects, the Subsea Engineer may also be assigned project management duties such as assisting the Project Manager with cost and schedule reporting, project review preparations, responsibility on scope of work (Cost Time Resource items), and subcontractor management.

Professional Background:

  • 15 years of experience in the offshore industry, and minimum 10 years on subsea engineering
  • Must have taken key subsea engineering roles on FEED and/or detailed engineering design of major deepwater projects
  • Broad based background in all technical disciplines related to subsea project systems
