The Berangan prospect is situated in SB 303 Block, offshore Malaysia, in a water depth of 230 feet (70 meters). Lundin Petroleum operates the block with a 75 percent stake; while Petronas holds the remaining interest.
Lundin Petroleum has commenced drilling on the Berangan-1 exploration well in August 2012. The well is targeting hydrocarbons in mid-Miocene aged sands in a faulted anticline in an undrilled sub-basin.
A vertical well will be drilled to a depth of 5,577 feet (1700 meters).
