Project Description
Located on Garden Banks Block 605 in a water depth of 1,066 meters in the Gulf of Mexico is the Winter discovery. Newfield is operator and has a 30% working interest in the Winter field. Additional partners include Apache Corporation 25%, Deep Gulf Energy 25% and Royal Offshore 20%.

In July 2008, Newfield Exlporation was granted approval for the drilling of five subsea wells on Garden Banks Block 605. During the first quarter of 2009, the Ocean Star semisub was contracted and scheduled to spud an exploratory well on the prospect.

Newfield Mulling Winter Development Options
Type: Status Update

Jul. 2012 - Deep Gulf Energy reported that the Winter discovery, which was drilled in June 2009, is temporarily abandoned as various development options are under consideration. The discovery is in close proximity to the DGE operated GB 339 Sargent well that is tied-back to the GB 72 fixed platform.

Newfield Exploration Scores Another Discovery at its Winter Prospect

Jun. 2009 - A discovery was made at the Winter prospect in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico by Newfield. The Winter discovery, located in approximately 3,400 feet (1,036 meters) of water on Garden Banks Block 605, was drilled by the Ocean Star semisub. The drilling encountered 44 feet (13 meters) of net hydrocarbon pay in two sands. The well was temporarily abandoned and various development options are under consideration.

Apache Take Stake in Winter Prospect
Type: Acreage Acquisition

Mar. 2009 - According to the MMS Apache has acquired a 25% stake in the Winter prospect on Garden Banks block 605 effective February 5, 2009. Newfield remains the operator with a 30% interest, while the remaining interest is held by Royal Offshore with 20%, Deep Gulf Energy LP with 12.5% and Deep Gulf Energy II LLC with 12.5%.

The Ocean Star Completes Drilling at Newfield's Winter Prospect

Feb. 2009 - Diamond's Ocean Star semisub rig has moved off Newfield's Winter prospect at Garden Banks 605. The operator has not announced the findings.

Jan. 2009 - RigLogix report shows that Diamond's Ocean Star is scheduled to spud an exploratory well on Newfield's Winter prospect located on Garden Banks 605 at the end of January. Newfield acquired GB 605 in October 2007 at the MMS Central Gulf of Mexico Lease Sale #205.
