The operator spudded the well in July using the Ocean Rover (DW semisub). Drilled to a total depth of about 22,000 feet (6,706 meters), the well was dry. The operator will plug and abandon the well.

Hess Comes Up Dry in Andalan
Type: Status Update
Jan. 2012 - Hess completed two of its three commitment wells on the Semai V Block offshore Indonesia, reported Rigzone's RigLogix Database. Wells Andalan 1 and 2 were both dry. Andalan 1 encountered hydrocarbons and although non-commercial, it helps with understanding the basin, Hess said from a geological perspective.

Hess has reported that the Ocean Rover (DW semisub) has reached a depth of approximately 17,000 feet at its Andalan-1 exploration well on the Semai V block offshore Indonesia. The well, which was spud in July, has a proposed total depth of 22,000 feet and results are expected in the next several weeks. Andalan-1is the first of a three-well commitment on Semai V.
