Project Description
The Wawa prospect is situated in the Deepwater Tano License offshore Ghana. Partners in the license include Tullow (operator, 49.95 percent), Kosmos (18 percent), Anadarko (18 percent), Sabre (4.06 percent) and Ghana Nat. Pet. (10 percent).

The operator spud the Wawa prospect, which is targeting hydrocarbons which may have moved to a trap up-dip from the TEN oil and gas/condensate fields.

Wawa-1 has confirmed the presence of additional hydrocarbon-bearing formations in the Deepwater Tano Block. The well, which was drilled by the Atwood Hunter (DW semisub), encountered about 43 feet (13 meters) of oil pay and 65 feet (20 meters) of gas condensate pay.

Wawa-1 was drilled in nearly 1,926 feet (587 meters) of water to a total depth of 10,899 feet (3,299 ...

Wawa Confirms Additional Hydrocarbons in Deepwater Tano Block
Type: New Discovery

Jul. 2012 - Tullow Oil has confirmed the presence of additional hydrocarbon-bearing formations in the Deepwater Tano Block offshore Ghana with the Wawa-1 exploration well. The well, which was drilled by the Atwood Hunter (DW semisub), encountered about 43 feet (13 meters) of oil pay and 65 feet (20 meters) of gas condensate pay. Wawa-1 was drilled in nearly 1,926 feet (587 meters) of water to a total depth of 10,899 feet (3,299 meters). The discovery reaches hydrocarbon-bearing formations over 6 miles (10 kilometers) north of the Enyenra-3A well, said Anadarko Senior Vice President of International and Deepwater Exploration Bob Daniels in a statement on Wednesday.

Tullow Oil Spuds Wawa-1 Well
Type: Drilling Operations

Apr. 2012 - Tullow Oil has spud the Wawa prospect offshore Ghana. The Atwood Hunter (DW semisub) is targeting hydrocarbons that may have moved to a trap up-dip from the Tweneboa-Enyenra-Ntomme oil and gas condensate fields. The water depth of the site is 1,939 feet (591 meters).

Tullow to Further Explore Deepwater Tano License
Type: Status Update

Mar. 2012 - Tullow has identified several prospects in the Deepwater Tano license offshore Ghana. Three exploration wells are expected to be drilled on the block before 2013, which include: Wawa-1, Sapele-1 and Tweneboa Deep-1. Tullow said that Wawa-1 will target hydrocarbons which may have moved to a trap up-dip from the TEN oil and gas/condensate fields; Sapele-1, immediately south of the Jubilee field, will test a prospective turbidite lobe and Tweneboa Deep-1, is a material prospect below the TEN fields.
