The Lishui gas field is situated on Block 25/34 in 246 feet (75 meters) of water offshore eastern China. CNOOC operates the block with a 51 percent stake; while Primeline Energy holds 36.75% and Primeline's affiliate, PPC holds the remaining 12.25%.
The Lishui 36-1 well was spudded on July 25, 1997 and reached a total depth of 10,827 feet (3,300 meters). The well encountered 1,781 feet (543 meters) of gross hydrocarbon-bearing section and flowed 9.86 MMcf/d of gas and 117 bopd of condensate through a 48/64-inch choke from the top of the reservoir section.
Three years later, the operator appraised the find through well Lishui 36-1-2, reaching a total depth of 9,514 feet (2,900 meters). The well encountered and confirmed similar reservoir quality and characteristics ...

Three years later, the operator appraised the find through well Lishui 36-1-2, reaching a total depth of 9,514 feet (2,900 meters). The well encountered and confirmed similar reservoir quality and characteristics to the discovery well. From a single test zone in the upper Paleocene reservoir, the well flowed at a stabilized rate of 12.25 MMcf/d of gas and 189 bopd of condensate through a 7/8-inch choke.
In 2007, the consortium determined the find was commercial and obtained approval of a reserve report for the Lishui 36-1 discovery by the Chinese State Reserves Committee in July 2007. Shortly after, the partners requested a full feasibility study for the commercialization of the Lishui 36-1 discovery, which was completed in December 2007.
Field Development
In March 2010, Primeline and CNOOC signed a number of agreements relating to the development, including a Supplemental Development Agreement ("SDA"), a Joint Operating Agreement ("JOA"), and an agreement relating to the implementation of the development and procurement and cost control principles ("Implementation Agreement").
The operator then commenced the preparation of the development including engineering design and early stage procurement.
First gas is expected in 3Q 2013.

CNOOC Receives Formal EIA Approval for Lishui Development
Type: Status Update
Jun. 2012 - CNOOC and Primeline Energy have received formal approval on the environmental impact assessment report for the development of the Lishui gas field from the State Oceanic Administration. The SOA had previously approved the routing of pipeline for the development. Primeline Energy, a partner on the field, reported that the EIA approval paves the way for the final regulatory approval required for the development, namely approval of the overall development program. Primeline expects that CNOOC will submit the ODP for confirmation by the National Reform and Development Committee shortly. Thus far, major construction contracts have been signed for the development to progress with fabrication of the platform and work on the pipeline are proceeding on schedule. The development is currently on time for first production, which is expected to be around 3Q 2013. The Lishui gas field is located on Block 25/34 offshore China and reportedly holds 4.9 billion cubic meters of proven gas reserves.

Primeline, CNOOC Enter Framework Agreement for LS 36-1 Field
Type: Status Update
Jul. 2010 - CNOOC signed a framework agreement for the sale and purchase of natural gas to Zhejiang Natural Gas Development from the LS 36-1 gas field. Previously, the companies signed a gas sale agreement in principle defining the general terms on which Zheijang Gas agreed to purchase the future production of natural gas from the LS 36-1 gas field. This included the quality of gas, take-or-pay principles, base price, annual quantity and delivery schedule. Over the past year, while Primeline and CNOOC were preparing the field's overall development program, negotiations continued over detailed terms of the gas sale for a more formal framework agreement. According to Primeline, much of the details are the same except for a few detailed terms. During development of the production facility, once supply and production details are confirmed, CNOOC and Primeline will negotiate further details of the gas sale, with the framework agreement likely to be replaced by a final gas sale contract. The agreement is subject to governmental approval.

Primeline, CNOOC Agreements Take Effect
Type: Status Update
Jul. 2010 - Primeline Energy received notification from CNOOC that the Supplemental Development Agreement for the LS 36-1 gas field was ratified by China's Ministry of Commence and the agreement went into effect. The contract confirms that CNOOC will exercise its right under the petroleum contract relating to Block 25/34 to take a 51%-operating interest in the gas field. Meanwhile, Primeline and CNOOC will prepare to submit the ODP for the field's development for full Chinese governmental approval.
