Project Description
The Alma field, previously known as the Argyll field, was the first oil field to be developed in the UK North Sea. It is located on the UKCS in P1765 Blocks 30/24c & 25c. Alma was previously abandoned at a relatively low water cut of 70 percent, using the technology available at the time. Enquest PLC owns 100 percent interest in the Alma/Galia fields. The Galia field is located in P1825 Block 30/24b.

Development Plan

In November 2011, EnQuest sanctioned the development of the Alma and Galia fields. First production is anticipated in 4Q 2013, with peak gross production of over 20,000 boepd. Alma/Galia is estimated to contain a gross 29 MMBoe in 2P reserves. The development is planned to consist of seven production wells and two water injection/disposal ...

The development is planned to consist of seven production wells and two water injection/disposal wells, tied-back to the modified EnQuest Producer, FPSO vessel. The development plan is designed to be capable of processing high water cut levels up to 95 percent.

EnQuest previously announced that it anticipated peak production of over 20,000 boepd from Alma/Galia, following first oil, expected in 4Q 2013.

Farm Out Agreement

In May 2012, EnQuest reached an agreement with Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (KUFPEC) to farm out 35 percent of its interest in exchange for a total investment of $500 million. While the farm out significantly enhances the economics of the project, farming out 35 percent of the gross production EnQuest will therefore reduce its net production by approximately 7,000 boepd in 2014 and by approximately 1,750 boepd in 2013. EnQuest's overall company net production outlook will similarly be reduced.

Drilling Operations

Preparations for drilling operations began in earnest in January 2012 when the Uisge Gorm Floating Production and Storage Offloading vessel (FPSO) was procured, renamed the EnQuest Producer and moved to Hamburg to begin modification and life extension work.

The Ocean Princess began drilling development well 30/24c on Alma, January 5, 2012. The well was sidetracked in late March.

Alma/Galia Development Nearing First Production
Type: Operator Update

Aug. 2013 - Development drilling and installation of subsea equipment is nearing completion at the EnQuest-operated Alma and Galia development in the UK North Sea. First production has been pushed back to 1Q 2014 due to an expanded work scope involving the refurbishment of the marine and processing systems onboard the EnQuest Producer FPSO. Additionally, EnQuest is considering moving the FPSO from the Blohm & Voss shipyard in Hamburg to a yard closer to the Alma/Galia fields for commissioning. EnQuest (operator) holds 65% interest in the development and its partner, KUFPEC, holds the remaining 35%.

EnQuest Proposes Alma/Galia Scope Increase
Type: Operator Update

Feb. 2013 - EnQuest's Board approved an increase to the scope and specifications of its Alma/Galia project in an effort to extend the life of the field, optimize operating costs and enable additional development. The increased scope is intended to extend FPSO life up to 15 years and add supplementary wells in a possible second development phase. Prolonging field life raises gross 2P reserves from 29 MMboe to 34 MMboe for the existing first development phase. Results of all wells drilled to date have been equal to or better than prognosis. The additional work is expected to increase gross capital expenditure for the project by $200 million. EnQuest holds a 65% working interest in the project and its partner, KUFPEC, holds the remaining 35%. The proposed change to scope and specifications are subject to normal partner approval process.

Jumbo Lands Alma/Galia FPSO Contract
Type: Operator Update

Dec. 2012 - EnQuest and its partner, KUFPEC, awarded a contract to Jumbo consisting of mooring, installation and hook-up of the EnQuest Producer FPSO in the UK North Sea. The FPSO, formerly the Uisge Gorm, is being refurbished at the Blohm & Voss yard in Hamburg, Germany. EnQuest is engaged in redeveloping the Alma and Galia fields and the FPSO will be used to service both. Installation of the vessel is expected to take place mid-2013. Jumbo plans to use their Fairplayer Heavy Lift Vessel, as it is capable of carrying all necessary equipment and material so that the project can be completed in one effort.

Technip to Install Subsea Equipment for Alma/Galia Development
Type: Subsea Equipment

Jun. 2012 - EnQuest Britain awarded Technip a contract for the development of the Alma and Galia fields in the UK sector of the North Sea. The scope of work includes installation of two 10-inch production flexible flowlines, one 8-inch water injection flexible flowline and one further 8-inch production flexible flowline; installation of three 8-inch flexible risers; installation of two production control umbilicals/risers; installation of four power cables and associated dynamic risers; procurement, fabrication and installation of a 175-ton manifold structure; and associated trenching operations, tie-ins, testing and commissioning. The fields will be tied-back to the EnQuest Producer FPSO, which are located in a water depth of about 262 feet (80 meters).

EnQuest to Farm Out 35 Percent of the Alma/Galia Development
Type: Operator Update

May. 2012 - EnQuest PLC announced an agreement in which it will farm out 35 percent of its interest in the Alma and Galia oil field developments to the Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (KUFPEC). Awaiting regulatory approval, the agreement stipulates that KUFPEC will invest a total of $500 million in cash, comprised KUFPEC's pro rata share of development costs from January 1, 2012 along with up to $182 million in future contributions for past costs and development carry, in relation to EnQuest's remaining interest in Alma/Galia.

Development Progresses at EnQuest's Alma/Galia Project
Type: Development Activity

May. 2012 - EnQuest reported that development of the Alma/Galia project is continuing on schedule for start-up in 4Q 2013. Batch drilling of the first three wells continues; the first of these wells is in the reservoir and on prognosis.

EnQuest Moves Forward with Alma/Galia Project
Type: Status Update

Mar. 2012 - A formal field development approval for the Alma/Galia project is expected to be imminent which will allow the addition of a fourth hub, with gross production capacity of over 20,000 boepd.

EnQuest Sanctions Alma/Galia Development
Type: Development Activity

Nov. 2011 - In November 2011, EnQuest sanctioned the development of the Alma and Galia fields. This $850 million project is expected to increase EnQuest’s production levels to more than 40,000 boepd in 2014. The development will consist of seven production wells and two water injection/disposal wells, tied-back to the modified Uisge Gorm Floating Production and Storage Offloading (‘FPSO) vessel. The development plan is designed to be capable of processing high water cut levels up to 95%.
