Job Description
|
Dovre Group is pleased to offer the aforementioned Contract position of Lead Mechanical Engineer with a major Oil and Gas Operating client for projects containing Facility modifications and scopes of work.
The Lead Mechnical Engineer will support FEED Planning and Detail Design for offshore topsides, onshore mechanical and static facility modifications. The focus projects will relate to Production projects and reductions, manifold expansions and Polymer Flood pilot projects.
The Key responsibility areas include:
- Understand Business Case around identified projects and scopes of work
- Oversee and guide the design contractor and associated vendors to produce piping, static equipment and machinery deliverables that are consistent with the level of technical definition and appropriate for the stage of the project, providing a design that is safe, reliable and in compliance with the project applicable technical and safety standards and that are balanced (e.g. cost vs. operational flexibility, etc.). This may involve spot check of calculations.
- Review and provide input and guidance on mechanical engineering related activities and studies; standard selection, clarification, and utilization; and analysis, inspection and testing programs, engineering deliverables, plans, etc. for static equipment, piping and machinery.
- Data Gathering and Analysis (base lining to field conditions if necessary), including brownfield verification and its input in the project scope and design.
- Interface with other Project Team members and organizations (Surveillance and Programmatics, Subject Matter Experts) to ensure overall engineering, procurement, and construction activities meet the Project Objectives
- Actively support development of Project Design Basis with input from all stakeholders
- Assure development and execution of facilities engineering portions of the project are consistent with the Project Plans and client processes. Provide required input to client's maintenance and capital and process deliverables.
- Represent and actively participate in technical group meetings and reviews such as project meetings, project reviews, hazard identification, hazard analysis, operability, maintainability, constructability, model reviews, commissioning etc.
- Support progression of technical / mechanical definition in all phases of a project and ensure proper facility design and equipment selection based on suitability, availability, and field life cost effectiveness.
- Assure that design activities are consistent with the engineering support plan in highly leveraged matrix organization. This includes the provision of guidance and oversight of facilities design and Engineering Contractor Deliverables.
- Support procurement and engineering reviews of Vendor Packages, this includes Factory Acceptance Tests and specific critical inspections and vendor shops.
- Responsible for monitoring own and contractors/vendors work against project deliverables schedules and resolve issues that could impact overall project execution.

- Capital Management , Brownfield Toolkit, Select Toolkit, Define Toolkit, Engineering Support Process, Subject Matter Experts, Client's Engineering Practices, Local Affiliate Specifications and Operations Installation and Maintenance Specifications are followed.
Skills and Experience Requirements:
- 7+ years facility engineering experience in upstream oil and gas sector
- Degree Engineer (required)
- Acted as a Facility Engineering Lead either for an operator or engineering services contractor (required)
- Strong knowledge of engineering studies or conceptual studies and brownfield issues
- Strong communication skills, strong interpersonal skills/ ability to work within a multi-disciplined/multi-cultural team
- Experience with FEED and detailed design on large capital project
- Familiar with offshore and onshore production operations and operational issues and Brownfield modifications
- Familiar with Client's Engineering Practices and know how to engage SME's for additional support.
- Good working knowledge of relevant industry standards, company General Practices.
- Knowledge of Engineering Management and Controls of E/P/C contractors
- Familiar with oil & gas production engineering deliverables and calculations [piping classes, basic field instrumentation, PFD, P&ID, C&E, Safe Charts, processing equipment [separators, pumps, compressors, control valves, water and oil treatment], plot plans, piping isometrics, etc.
- Able to interface with static and rotating equipment specialists, detailed instrument and controls engineers, electrical scopes of work, and materials specialists
- Understand how scope decisions impact offshore production projects on cost and schedule
- Able to create deliverables such as plans, documents, spreadsheets, etc, as well as oversee third party contractors working technical details
- Strong ownership of work responsibilities/ willingness to propose initiatives and solutions
