Project Description
The Zora gas field is located in the Sharjah Western Offshore Concession off the United Arab Emirates. Zora was discovered in 1979 with the Sharjah-1 gas field. Gas was flowed from two separate intervals in the Thamama reservoir at a combined rate of 14 Mmscfd. Sharjah-2 was drilled in 1999 and tested at a rate of 40 MMscfd.

Development approval was granted in early 2013. The plan of development calls for the installation of a fixed wellhead platform connected to the Sharjah-1 and Sharjah-2 wells. Both wells will be extended with horizontal sections drilled into the Thamama reservoir. A gas pipeline will transport gas from the platform to shore for processing and distribution. Gas production is expected to commence in 1H 2015.

Dana Gas Issues Construction Contract for Zora Development
Type: Development Activity

Nov. 2013 - Dana Gas awarded a $17 million contract to Adyard Abu Dhabi for the fabrication of a wellhead platform to be installed as part of the Zora gas field development project in the territorial waters of Sharjah and Ajman, UAE. Execution of the construction contract is a major step in the $160 million project that received regulatory approval earlier this year. The Sharjah-1 discovery well was drilled in the Sharjah Western Offshore Concession in 1979 and the Sharjah-2 appraisal was followed in 1999. The plan of development calls for both wells to be extended with horizontal sections and tied back to the platform. Dana, the operator, expects the Zora field to become operational in 1H 2015 with daily production rate of 40 Mcf.
