Project Description
The Martin Linge (Hild) gas field is situated in the northern North Sea in Production License 040, 043, in roughly 394 feet (120 meters) of water. The license owners include Total (operator, 51 percent), Statoil (19 percent) and Petoro (30 percent).

Martin Linge's (Hild's) discovery well was found in 1975, followed by 11 exploration wells drilled between 1975 and 1985. In 2003, a 3D seismic survey was performed over the area, which confirmed the area is heavily faulted with gas and condensate at high temperatures and high pressure, making the field complicated to develop.

In November 2011, Total contracted Maersk Drilling to use one of two ultra-harsh environment jackup rigs currently under construction in Singapore. Total will use the rig to develop the high-pressure, high-temperature field. Drilling is expected to begin by the third quarter of 2014.

Field Development

Total has submitted a Plan for Development and Operation to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate for the Martin Linge (Hild) field, which is estimated to hold recoverable reserves of 1Bboe.

The development calls for an integrated wellhead, living quarters and production facility with a life expectancy of 30 years. The facility will be designed for remote control from an onshore base in Stavanger via an undersea cable from Kollsnes, and will also receive power from land. Oil will be sent by pipeline to a contracted storage vessel for processing before loaded onto shuttle tankers. The ship, which is planned to receive power from the production facility, can store up to 620,000 barrels of oil.

Production is slated to commence in 2016.

WorleyParsons Wins Martin Linge Hook-Up and Commissioning Contract
Type: Contract Award

Feb. 2014 - Technip issued an estimated $92 million contract to WorleyParsons related to hook up and commissioning services for the Total-operated Martin Linge platform in the Norwegian North Sea. WorleyParsons will begin work immediately with team members being mobilized to France and then to Samsung Heavy Industries' yard in South Korea. The bulk of the work will be carried out mid-2016 when offshore installation begins.

Subsea 7 Wins Martin Linge SURF Contract

Nov. 2012 - Total E&P Norge awarded a subsea, umbilical, riser and flowline (SURF) contract worth almost $800 million to Subsea 7 for development activities at the Martin Linge gas field in the Norwegian North Sea. Under the contract, Subsea 7 will provide engineering, procurement, construction and installation of the subsea facilities associated with the field. Engineering and project management are expected to commence immediately with offshore operations forecasted to begin in the spring of 2014. Contract duration is estimated at 4 years.

Total Receives Consent to Develop Martin Linge

Jun. 2012 - Total has received approval from the Norwegian Parliament for the development and operation of the Martin Linge, formerly Hild field. The field, which holds estimated recoverable reserves of 189 million boe, will be exploited using a fixed platform with gas to be exported via the UK pipeline system and oil to be processed and stored on a floating storage and offloading vessel for export by shuttle tanker.

Kvaerner Wins Jacket EPSC Gig at Hild Field

Feb. 2012 - Total has awarded Kvaerner an EPSC-contract for the delivery of a steel jacket to be located at the Hild field in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. The contract includes engineering, procurement, supply, construction, load-out and sea-fastening of the jacket and associated piles. The jacket is slated for delivery in 2014.

Feb. 2012 - Total is launching the development of the Hild field in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. The development, projected to cost $4.2 billion, is subject to the approval of the Norwegain Ministry of Petroleum and Energy and Norwegian Parliament. The partners submitted the PDO for approval on Jan. 25, 2012. Hild's reserves amount to approximately 190 million boe. Production is expected to start in 2016 and will reach 100,000 boepd at peak.

Maersk Drilling Awarded Rig Contract for Total's Hild Development

Aker Gets Engineering Contract for Hild Development

Sep. 2011 - Aker Solutions will conduct basic engineering for the development of Total's Hild field in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. Aker Solutions' scope of work includes engineering for the topsides, jacket, a floating storage and offloading unit, turret and mooring, subsea umbilicals, risers, pipelines and flowlines and transportation and installation. Work is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2012. Aker Solutions' head offices in Oslo, Norway will conduct the topside engineering, while the turret and mooring work will be conducted in Kristiansand, Norway. Aker Solutions previously completed a pre-project/pre-basic engineering study for the field. Hild is an oil and gas field located in a water depth of 328 to 394 feet (100 to 120 meters). The license owners include Total (operator, 49%), Statoil (21%) and Petoro (30%).

Total E&P Gets Green Light to Drill Hild Appraisal Well in North Sea

Jul. 2009 - Total was granted consent to conduct exploration drilling in the North Sea using the West Phoenix semisub in 394 feet (120 meters) of water. The consent applies to drilling appraisal well 30/4-D-1 AH on the Hild field, which is part of PL 043 with Total as operator, and Petoro and StatoilHydro as the other licensees. Hild was proven in 1979 near the delimitation line to the UK Continental Shelf.

Discovery (Drilled) - May 15, 1979 to May 1979

ildcat well 30/4-1 was drilled to TD at 5454 m in the Early Jurassic Dunlin Group. The well was permanently abandoned as dry well.

Exploratory Drilling - Jan 11, 1978 to May 14, 1979

Wildcat well 30/4-1 was spudded with the semi-submersible installation SEDCO 707.
