Project Description
The Lupalupa prospect is located in roughly 4,100 feet of water in the Sangomar Offshore Profond block off the coast of Senegal. A well is expected to be drilled in 1H 2014 by the Transocean Cajun Express (UDW semisub) targeting an estimated 600 MMbbls of unrisked, best estimate oil resources.

Cairn Wraps Up Second Discovery Well Offshore Senegal
Type: New Discovery

Nov. 2014 - Last week, Cairn Energy announced the discovery of oil in the primary target of the SNE-1 exploration well being drilled in the Sangomar Deep block offshore Senegal. Drilling operations were still underway in an effort to evaluate a deeper secondary target in kartstified and fractured lower Cretaceous shelf carbonates. The secondary target has been reached but no indications of hydrocarbons were found and the well will be plugged and abandoned after logging operations are completed. SNE-1 was drilled by the Cajun Express (UDW semisub) to a depth of roughly 9,800 feet. Cairn estimates recoverable resources could range between 150 and 670 million barrels. The block partnership is comprised of Cairn (40%), ConocoPhillips (35%), FAR Limited (15%) and state-owned Petrosen (10%).

Cairn Reports Oil Discovery at SNE-1 Wildcat off Senegal
Type: New Discovery

Nov. 2014 - Cairn Energy announced the second discovery of its 2-well exploration campaign in the Sangomar Deep block offshore Senegal. Well SNE-1 was drilled by the Cajun Express (UDW semisub) in 3,600 feet of water and is targeting the Lupalupa and Baobab prospects. Logging confirmed 118 feet of net oil-bearing reservoir in the Cretaceous primary target which is similar to the results of the first well, FAN-1. Samples of 32 degree API oil were recovered to surface and initial recoverable resource estimates range from 150 to 670 million barrels. Drilling is ongoing in an effort to reach a deeper secondary target in karstified and fractured lower Cretaceous shelf carbonates. Once drilling is complete, data from both wells will be used to establish an appraisal program in 2015.

Cajun Express Drilling FAN-1 and SNE-1 Top Holes Offshore Senegal
Type: Drilling Operations

May. 2014 - Top hole drilling at the Cairn-operated FAN-1 well offshore Senegal has been completed and the Cajun Express (UDW semisub) has moved to spud the SNE-1 top hole. Once the top hole is complete, the rig will move back to FAN-1 and drill the well total depth. Both wells are located in the Sangomar Offshore license and are being drilled to test the North Fan and Lupalupa prospects respectively. Cairn operates the license with 40% interest. Its partners include ConocoPhillips (35%), FAR (15%) and Petrosen (10%).
