Project Description
The Laura gas discovery is located off Italy's east coast in permit D150 DR-CS. Water depth at the location is 610 feet. Laura-1, the discovery well, was drilled in 1980 and encountered gas in two intervals.

The upper Pleistocene level tested at 11 Mmscfd. Gross P50 contingent resources for the Laura discovery have been estimated by Fugro-Robertson, to be 30 Bscf.

In August 2011 the Ministry of Economic Development in Italy withdrew Sound Oil's application for Permit D150 DR-CS from the application process to full permit status. This was in compliance with the environmental decree 128/1210 enacted in June 2010 which prevents oil and gas activity within 5 nautical miles of the Italian coast. Italian Regulator Awards Offshore Permit D.R74.AP to Sound Oil
Type: Operator Update

Jun. 2014 - The Italian Ministry of Economic Development formally awarded offshore permit D.R74.AP (formerly known as permit D150DR-CS) to Sound Oil who owns 100% interest. The permit contains the 1980 Laura gas discovery that tested at a stabilized rate of 10 MMscfd. An independent assessment estimates the field contains P50 resources of 30 Bscf.

Sound Looks to Speed Development of Laura Discovery
Type: Operator Update

Feb. 2013 - Development of the Laura gas discovery in the Gulf of Taranto may be accelerated according to field operator Sound Oil. The company is in talks with the Italian Ministry of Economic Development about applying directly for production concession instead of applying to drill an appraisal well. If approved, development of the field could be sped up by at least a year. Sound Oil had previously submitted a permit for development but it was withdrawn by the Ministry in 2011 due to environmental decree 128/2010 which prohibited oil and gas activity within five nautical miles of the coast. Law 134/2013 was gazetted in August 2012 and serves to reverse the restrictions imposed by the previous decree.
