Job description:  

Reporting to the Head of Performance Services, the Performance Improvement Engineer is responsible for the gathering and analysis of operational data, support of data gathering systems, identifying and dissemination of best practices and assisting with performance improvement initiatives for his/her assigned area.

Responsibilities  

*   Identify and implement performance enhancing measures where they have one of more of the following benefits: Increased revenue for KCAD,     

*   Enhancement of KCAD HS&E culture  

*   Time saving leading to the reduction of operating cost, iv) Increased productivity     

*   Oversee the use, maintenance and upgrade of web-based reporting systems such as the Enhanced Drilling Reporting System (EDRS), Smartdesk and KPI Dashboard to enable performance measurement and benchmarking.  

*   Train KCAD personnel in the use of EDRS, KPI Dashboard and other relevant performance systems. Act as focal point for any problems identified by rig personnel and identify corrective actions.  

*   Ensure EDRS Manual is kept up to date and reflects the current version in use.  

*   Ensure all data is gathered and reported in a consistent and reliable manner.  

*   Identify ‘Best Practices' within assigned area and ensure they are documented, shared and implemented accordingly.  

*   Ensure operational lessons are captured in the EDRS Lessons Learned database, correctly validated and that key personnel are trained in its use. Ensure that all lessons from MOF investigations are input into the Lessons Learned module.  

*   Ensure that KPIs (including client KPIs) are monitored against visible benchmarks to allow good performance to be highlighted by the issuing of Recognition Certificates on a monthly basis.  

*   Provide input as required to monthly performance presentations generated by Performance Services for each country. Produce NPT ‘quick look' and combined NPT/safety traffic light presentations on a monthly basis and NPT lost revenue summaries on a quarterly basis.  

*   Provide performance statistics for tendering exercises and client visits as required.  

*   Ensure department shared filing systems are kept in good order and key files remain accessible and up-to-date.  

*   Provide facilitation skills for key events such as: Pre-spud, Post Activity Reviews and Rig Start-up meetings.  

*   Provide support to all functions (particularly Operations and Maintenance teams) as directed by Head of Performance Services.  

*   Facilitate ‘New Technology' presentations, organise vendor visits and promote a productive working atmosphere between KCAD and major vendors.  

*   When requested, act as editor for ‘Drilling Ahead' newsletter. Four issues of Drilling Ahead are to be produced per year.  

*   Produce a quarterly report highlighting departmental training deficiencies against the approved training matrix.  

*   Provide cover for the Performance Improvement Coordinator position when requested by Head of Performance Services - particularly with respect to MOF facilitation.  

*   Ensure performance information on local plasma screens and notice boards is kept up to date in agreement with the corporate communication department.  

*   Ensure an adequate supply of Performance Services promotional material and performance tools is kept. Generate new material as required/directed by Head of Performance Services.  

*   Act as departmental SET Champion (if nominated) and promote safety related initiatives in the office

Key Skills & Experience  

*   Degree in an engineering discipline  

*   Proven experience in an oilfield operating environment
