Project Description
The Cladhan field is located on Blocks 210/29a and 210/30a in the UK sector of the North Sea in a water depth of 1,634 feet (498 meters). Sterling Energy, holding a 39.9% interest, operates Cladhan; Wintershall holds 33.5%; Encore holds 16.6%; and Dyas holds the remaining 10% interest.

In November 2008, Cladhan's discovery well confirmed the presence of a stratigraphically trapped 110-foot light oil column. To further appraise this find, the operator secured the J W McLean semisub to appraise the southward extension of the area. Appraisal drilling is anticipated to commence between late March and early July 2010.

Sterling Successfully Drills Sidetrack Well on Cladhan
Type: Operator Update

Aug. 2010 - Delineation activities on the Cladhan sidetrack well were completed, announced Sterling Resources. The sidetrack well was drilled to a total depth of 11,215 feet (3,418 meters), encountering a gross hydrocarbon column of 159 feet (48 meters) with 102 feet (31 meters) of net hydrocarbon bearing sandstones. The reservoir quality is excellent with average porosities of 21% and average oil saturations of 86%; and the two wells (discovery and sidetrack) have confirmed a total hydrocarbon column in excess of 273 feet (83 meters). A drill stem test will now be performed. Sterling anticipates that results from the DST operations will confirm the commerciality of the Cladhan field. Cladhan is located on Blocks 210/29a and 210/30a in the UK sector of the North Sea in a water depth of 1,634 feet (498 meters). Sterling Energy, holding a 39.9% interest, operates Cladhan; Wintershall holds 33.5%; Encore holds 16.6%; and Dyas holds the remaining 10% interest.

J W McLean Arrives at Cladhan Location
Type: Status Update

Aug. 2010 - The J W McLean semisub has arrived at the Cladhan location and will commence operations to sidetrack and delineate the oil discovery made in December 2008.

Type: Status Update

Jul. 2010 - The J W McLean semisub should commence drilling operations at the Cladhan location within the next couple of days, announced a partner on the field, EnCore.

Sterling to Delineate Cladhan Well
Type: Appraisal Operations

Jul. 2010 - The JW McLean semisub should arrive at the Cladhan field towards the end of July to drill a sidetrack into the discovery well. Delineation of the field begins with sidetracking to an up dip location in Upper Jurassic channel sands to prove a deeper oil column in the structure. The Cladhan field is located on Blocks 210/29a and 210/30a in the UK sector of the North Sea in a water depth of 1,634 feet (498 meters). Sterling operates the field, holding a 39.9% interest; Wintershall holds 33.5%; Encore holds 16.6%; and Dyas holds 10%.

Encore Confirms 2010 Drilling Plans for Cladhan, Catcher
Type: Status Update

Feb. 2010 - Appraisal drilling on the Cladhan discovery, located on Blocks 210/29a and 210/30a, will commence between late March and early July 2010 using the J W McLean semisub. The well will appraise the southward extension of the stratigraphically trapped 110-foot light oil column encountered during the discovery in November 2008. The Catcher prospect, located in the UK Central North Sea Block 28/9, will be drilled by the GSF Galaxy II jackup in late March/early April 2010. In the event of a discovery on the Catcher prospect, the operator expects to either well test or perform a sidetrack into the adjacent Catcher East Eocene Tay sand prospect. Sterling Energy operates Cladhan, and Encore operates the Catcher prospect.

Sterling to Kick Off Cladhan Appraisal Drilling in North Sea
Type: Appraisal Operations

Dec. 2009 - Appraisal drilling on the Cladhan field is expected to launch by 3Q 2010, utilizing the J W McLean semisub. In November 2008, a Cladhan discovery well encountered a stratigraphically trapped 110-foot (34-meter) light oil column, and appraisal drilling will be conducted to determine the size and scope of the discovery. Cladhan is situated on Block 210/29a in the UK sector of the North Sea in a water depth of 1,634 feet (498 meters). Sterling operates the block and holds a 39.9% interest; EnCore holds 16.6%; Wintershall holds 33.5%; and Dyas holds the remaining 10% interest.

Encore Oil Reports on Cladhan field in North Sea
Type: Operator Update

Jun. 2009 - Plans are underway for an appraisal well to be drilled on the Cladhan light oil discovery located in block 210/29a in the UK Northern North Sea. Timing of the well is still to be finalized, but it is likely that this will be Q4 2009 or Q2 2010. The initial well, drilled in November 2008, confirmed the presence of a stratigraphically trapped 110 feet (34 meters) light oil column with no apparent oil-water contact.

Sterling Unlocks Oil at UK North Sea's Bowstring East
Type: New Discovery

Nov. 2008 - Sterling has announced the successful drilling of the Cladhan well located on the Bowstring East Prospect, Block 210/29a, in the United Kingdom North Sea. Sterling holds a 39.9% interest and is the operator of the License P1064. Well 210/29a-4 has encountered an oil column in excess of 110ft (34m) with no observed oil-water contact, in an Upper Jurassic sequence below 9,450ft (MDRT) containing 25ft (8m) of sandstones with log porosity exceeding 20% and showing high oil saturations. The well will be suspended providing the group the option to re-enter, side-track, flow test, at a later date, once the data-set collected has been evaluated for potential resource size and commercial options.
